Unique Substrate
DAKU substrate consists of a unique mix of granulated lava, pumice and fertilizers. The lava and pumice are porous and lightweight, does not contain sand or silt and hence will not be compacted over time. The substrate can store up to 39% of water by volume.
Unique Filter
DAKU Stabil-filter is made from a special mix of polyester and propylene. Its excellent capillary action allow the Daku Stabil-filter to draw water from areas with high water to areas with low water. This ensure sufficient and even water distribution throughout the roof.
Water Storage / Low Maintenance
DAKU element reservoir can store 16 litres of water/m2. Together with the Daku substrate, the DAKU Roof Garden System can store up to 55 litres of water per m2. Watering cycles is therefore reduced, thus saving water.
Drainage
Excess water is drained quickly and effectively through the patented channel system of the DAKU element. The danger of flooding in the substrate eliminated with the unique DAKU substrate.
Lightweight
DAKU extensive roof garden system is more than 40% lighter than a conventional roof garden. It is suitable for use on existing roof.
DAKU FSD 20 water storage and drainage element – Made from pressure moulded polystyrene to form large reservoirs that collect rainwater to support plant growth. It can store 16 litres of water per square metre.
DAKU Stabilfilter – Separates the DAKU substrate from the water storage chambers. DAKU Stabilfilter is made from a special mix of polyester and polypropylene. Its excellent capillary action allows DAKU Stabilfilter to draw water from areas with high water to areas with low water. This ensures sufficient and even water distribution throughout the roof.
DAKU substrate – DAKU substrate consists of a unique mix of granulated lava and pumice. The lava and pumice are porous and lightweight and weighs as much as three times less than the conventional soil. The substrate can store up to 39% of water by volume.
